A Pilgrim's Daily Prayer

Called through the Word to the everlasting journey in the Spirit

from nothingness to union with the One who is the Beginning and the End

Dieric Bouts: Christ in the House of Simon, Staatliche Museen, Berlin,  1440s

Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time:                                       Your Faith Has Saved You

Readings for Mass
First Reading: Second Samuel 12:7-10, 13
Responsorial Psalm:
Psalms 32:1-2, 5, 7, 11
Second Reading: Galatians 2:16, 19-21
Gospel: Luke 7:36-50

Then he said to her, ‘Your sins are forgiven.’ But those who were at the table with him began to say among themselves, ‘Who is this who even forgives sins?’ And he said to the woman, ‘Your faith has saved you; go in peace (NRSV, Luke 7:38-50).’

Let us pray.

Father, the sinful woman was forgiven her sins because of her faith, of her having said “yes” to you, placing her trust and confidence in you, accepting you into her life.

May we join with her, Father, in likewise saying “yes” to you through your Word always present to us. The gift of your life received through the Word in the power of the Holy Spirit always brings forgiveness with it, forgiveness to be shared with all those who have sinned against us.

May our faith in you Father, save us now and into the world to come.

Through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
