Bio

Erik Hellstrom received the M.Sc. degree in applied physics and electrical engineering and the Ph.D. degree from Linköping University, Sweden, in 2005 and 2010, respectively. He was Research Fellow and Research Scientist with the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI, USA, from 2010 to 2013. Between 2013 and 2023, he was with Ford Research and Advanced Engineering in Dearborn, MI, USA as Research Engineer, Technical Expert, and Team Manager. He joined EAVX in Ann Arbor, MI, USA in 2023 where he currently is the Technical Director of Controls and Automation.

Dr. Hellstrom has published more than 40 journal and conference papers and is named on over 30 patents. He was an Associate Editor of Control Engineering Practice 2013-2018 and is currently an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology.

He is a curious engineer who enjoys leading teams and giving technical direction for collaboratively solving challenging problems. His areas of technical expertise are in control, estimation, and data science with automotive applications.
