I am researcher (assistant professor) at Department of Engineering and Architecture (DIA), University of Trieste.

I am the head of the Evolutionary Robotics and Artificial Life Lab and the co-head of the Machine Learning Lab.

My research interests include Evolutionary Computation and Machine Learning and its application to computer- and engineering-related topics: web and mobile security (automatic detection of web site defacements and phishing, javascript malware analysis, mobile malware detection and analysis), document understanding. I am also interested in natural language processing and information retrieval, computer vision (face detection and recognition). See my publications page for more details. Recently, I am focusing on Grammatical Evolution, a form of Genetic Programming.
