Family History Research

Eric Probert has been researching family history for over 34 years and was awarded a University of London Certificate with Merit in "Genealogy and the History of the Family". He has been a member of the Society of Genealogists since 1978 and in 1994 was elected a Fellow having edited the Society's quarterly, Computers in Genealogy for 10 years and organised a number of conferences. He was then Computing Editor for Family Tree Magazine, has given talks around the UK on a variety of family history topics and authored a book Company and Business Records for Family Historians. He has also ben a prominent member of Essex Society for Family History since the 1970s, holding several positions including Chairman and now is a regular contributor to the Society's Journal, The Essex Family Historian, with publication reviews and "Useful Web Sites".

On redundancy from the Inner London Education Authority in 1990, following a career in engineering and management, he founded the Family History Research Centre and has been searching indexes & records and tracing ancestors & descendants for clients in Canada, the USA, Australia and New Zealand as well the UK ever since.
