Events and publications

In June 2012 a GHS Study Day was hosted by us at Caldwell. Since then various groups have toured the Caldwell site with us including the Strathclyde Branch of the Plant Heritage Society, members of the Uplawmoor Development Trust and representatives of various archaeological organisations including Archaeology Scotland.

We have also introduced our findings at the Cowden Hall to interested organisations in the form of lectures and guided walks around the site. These have included The Neilston Development Trust, The Barrhead and District Historical Association, and several commercial businesses operating in the heritage field.

Other talks and presentations have been made to a range of local interest groups covering both the approaches and methods used in our surveys and research as well as illustrated talks on the outcomes for sites in East Renfrewshire. This has included presenting findings to the Renfrewshire Local History Forum conference held in Neilston.   More recently, following a talk to participants in the Lottery Funded Rouken Glen  regeneration project, additional links have been established with East Renfrewshire Council planning and project departments and subsequently we have begun a survey of the designed landscape elements of what is now Rouken Glen Park (formerly Thornliebank House).

Our initial publications focussed on documenting the survey work for various sites.  Detailed findings in our reports can be accessed on the RCAHMS site by following the appropriate link -
