Caldwell area genealogy resources

As a result of our work, various records have been consulted and a range of information has been accumulated. We hope this information may be useful and interesting for those who might be carrying out family history investigations associated with the Caldwell and Uplawmoor area.  Many of the names that crop up in the information here are still found locally.

The census data is not organised and is simply a collection of information obtained, the full set being in census general.  A note on census locations is also included along with ordered subsets for the Caldwell Garden site and the Raeside surname.  If doing fresh census searches, please note that Caldwell House, the Old Gardens (Ramshead) and the Gamekeeper's Cottage were in Ayrshire (Beith Parish) with all other properties being in the Neilston Parish of Renfrewshire.

Did your ancestors work on the building of Caldwell House?  The Who built Caldwell House downloads listed are two versions of the same information.  Within can be found the names of the various workers and what they were paid during the initial construction phase of Caldwell House.  This covers the period from 1772 to 1776.

Technical note:  The epub version works fine in Microsoft Edge but not necessarily in all ebook readers.  The pdf version is designed for double page viewing with initial single title page
