Epheros - A Collection of Confused Ruminations

If only I was worth the price of admission

During the day I am a somewhat mild-mannered Information Technology and Business consultant in Virginia Beach, VA (USA).  After work I am allowed to assume this personality, Epheros Aldor, an internet surfing dilettante who fancies himself a slowly burgeoning creative writer, laughable pencil artist, not quite dedicated martial artist, part time personal chef, and wanna-be fashion designer. My hobbies are reading and writing, playing Xbox360, listening to Goth/Industrial music, watching movies, and just plain learning whatever piques my interest.

I love reading fantasy, dark fantasy, classics, some horror, a few mysteries, and some other odds and ends. My passion for reading began while in high school when some student in front of me during class handed me a copy of Spellfire by Ed Greenwood, he stated he finished it and was planning on tossing it if I wouldn't take it. That book brought me fully into the new world of the Dungeons & Dragons setting of the Forgotten Realms. Ever since opening those pages I've read and purchased every novel published by the Realms, amassing quite a collection of trade and mass market paperbacks, hardcovers, and reprints over the last 22 years. I've stretched my literary wings, so to speak, to include HP Lovecraft, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories, Anne Rice's Vampire Chroncles (as well as her other books such as the Mayfair Witches and, one of my favorites, Ramses the Damned), and Elizabeth George (though it's been a while since I've read some of her work). I've branched into some Steampunk and have been working through Stephen Hunt's The Court of the Air and The Kingdom Beyond the Waves

Some of my favorite authors are Paul S. Kemp, Patrick Rothfuss, Scott Lynch, Eric Scott deBie, Gail Z. Martin, Brent Weeks, and R.A. Salvatore. And, not to exclude all the great pieces of fiction I read, but I would say my favorite book of all time would have to be The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss.

Not so long ago I began these web pages in an effort to localize several book reviews I had written and posted on my livejournal blog. Unfortunately, due to several depressing circumstances I stopped writing book reviews with the exception of those who either kept in touch with me and requested I write one for their book or for those I felt so strongly about, such as Rothfuss' upcoming A Wise Man's Fear.

My favorite movies are American Psycho, Equilibrium, The Brothers Bloom, The Bourne series, The Matrix ("How much do clothes cost in the Matrix?"), and The Lord of the Rings trilogy. And, my favorite video game is the Assassin's Creed series, as well as a few others.

So, there's the bio, for what it's worth.

**07 Jan 2008 - Updated:  Broke Book Reviews page into two different pages.  Hopefully for easier reading and searching (though this Google web application doesn't allow for robust page creation)

**05 Jan 2011 - Updated overall webpages.

Also, of note, on each page you can use my name in the title area to link back to this page.
