Certification Procedure

The certification process is defined between EPCI and the operator of the Bancontact/MisterCash & Proton payment systems, as contracted by the owners of the procedure is agreed by the  Bancontact/MisterCash & Proton card schemes and issuers of these cards.


The rules and obligations of this procedure are passed to the vendors of payment terminals and related equipment that submit to certification their equipment that will be used to process transactions initiated with above mentioned cards. These vendors will sign a contract with EPCI in which the rights and obligations of each party are detailed. The core of this contract is the appendix C in which the certification process is detailed from the intake to market operation.


The certification process is linear and identical for the different cards and terminal types. Only the specifications differ.
