Payments terminal certification

EPCI certifies multiple types of terminals
  • Terminals accepting Bancontact/MisterCash cards according to legacy specifications
  • Unconnected readers for cardholder authentication and digital signature according to legacy specifications
  • Terminals accepting magnetic stripe cards but no smart cards (pre-EMV - discontinued since 2007 - no connectivity to acquirers since 2010)
  • Terminals accepting Proton Cards
  • Proton Balance readers
A separate pages informs in more detail on the valid certifications for each type of terminal

The overall certification process is also briefly described on a separate page.

EPCI previously combined certified terminals accepting EMV smart cards and magnetic stripe cards. The management of these certifications was transferred to Acquiris in 2011.
