THINGS THAT MUST BE DONE BEFORE THE FIRST CLASS

    QGIS
  • You must install QGIS on your computer
  • Note:
    • QGIS runs on Windows, Lunix and Mac, but I have little experience myself with QGIS running on Mac.
    • Installing QGIS on Windows is easy. However, installing QGIS on Mac is a bit more complicated as the user must install several basic software libraries that are not present by default on MACOSX. Installing QGIS on Mac is really not difficult, but it takes longer and implies several steps. I have included detailed instructions in QGIS-installation
    R
  • You must have R installed, follow this link for some advice:
  • If you know how to do it, install the following R packages as well (otherwise you'll do it during the session):
    • rgdal
      • Windows: Install as any other R package (will install sp as well)
      • Linux: install GDAL (i.e. ubuntugis/unstable) and then rgdal as any other R package (GDAL installation will install sp as well)
      • MACOSX
        • Install from within R:
        • > setRepositories(ind=1:2)
        • > install.packages("rgdal")
    • raster
      • Install as any other R package

Bring your computer to class!
