Hello, I am Sabrina Greenwell. This is my third year teaching at Palm Beach State College. I love it here! My students, classes and colleagues are fantastic! I enjoy teaching and learning. At Palm Beach State College, I teach the introductory education courses. Future teachers are the best students :) We have thought-provoking discussions on current educational issues that influence today's classroom, so one class is never the same as another, and each semester changes with current events. I am also the Future Educators of America advisor for the Lake Worth campus. Being the FEA advisor has helped build a stronger relationship between the education students and myself.

Previously, I taught in public high schools in the Orlando area for thirteen years. I taught English and reading classes focusing on helping my students pass the FCAT. This gives me relevant experience in teaching future teachers. Not only do we cover the textbook and curriculum, but I can give anecdotes of my experience. I know about the pressures of high-stakes standardized testing and what it is like to be in those faculty meetings. I can tell them about classroom management, strategies, and flexibility. Finding a good mentor and support is essential when tackling the first years of teaching.

I am a graduate of the University of Central Florida with Bachelors in English Literature, a Masters in English Language Arts Education, and Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in reading. My dissertation chair and advisor was Vicky Zygouris-Coe, a well respected researcher and leader in reading instruction. We have published work together and won an award for it. She is also an active member of Florida Association of Teacher Educators, of which I am a member. I enjoy going to the FATE conferences and gaining more knowledge to share with my students and colleagues at Palm Beach State College.

I use this e-portfolio as an example/ model for my students in my EME 2040 courses. They also create an e-portfolio that they can use as a cloud for their resources, a chronicle of their academic journey, and for future employment.
