The mission of the Darden Emerging Markets Development Club is two-fold.
- To connect students interested in international development to relevant resources, networks, and career and learning opportunities.
- To raise the profile of the Darden School in the international development field at large.
We believe that innovative and profitable business models can sometimes tackle development challenges more quickly and effectively than government and aid mechanisms.
Topics of interest include the role of enterprise in development, social enterprise, intrapreneurship, livelihoods and job creation, the role of multinational companies in the development process, consulting with entrepreneurs in emerging markets, value investment, and the integration of the world’s poor into formal market economies.
