Jiwen Lu is a Research Scientist at the Advanced Digital Sciences Center (ADSC), Singapore, the Singapore-based research center of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), set up with funding from the Agency of Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). He received the B.Eng. degree in mechanical engineering and the M.Eng. degree in electrical engineering from the Xi'an University of Technology, Xi'an, China, in 2003 and 2006, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in 2011. His research interests include computer vision, pattern recognition, and machine learning. He has authored/co-authored over 100 scientific papers in these areas, where more than 30 papers were published in IEEE Transactions (T-PAMI/T-IP/T-CSVT/T-IFS) and top-tier computer vision conferences (ICCV/CVPR/ECCV). He serves as an Area Chair for ICME 2015 and ICB 2015, and a Special Session Chair for VCIP 2015. Recently, he gives tutorials at CVPR 2015, FG 2015, ACCV 2014, ICME 2014 and IJCB 2014.
(16/12/2014) I will give a tutorial on "Distance Metric Learning for Visual Recognition" at IEEE CVPR 2015, together with Ruiping Wang, Wei-Shi Zheng, and Weihong Deng. Please visit here for more details.
(16/12/2014) I will give a tutorial on "Discriminative Learning for Single-Sample Face Recognition" at IEEE FG 2015, together with Weihong Deng. Please visit here for more details.
