Jiwen Lu is a Research Scientist at the Advanced Digital Sciences Center (ADSC), Singapore, the Singapore-based research center of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), set up with funding from the Agency of Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). He received the B.Eng. degree in mechanical engineering and the M.Eng. degree in electrical engineering from the Xi'an University of Technology, Xi'an, China, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, respectively. His research interests include computer vision, pattern recognition, and machine learning. He has authored/co-authored over 110 scientific papers in these areas, where 23 papers are published in the IEEE Transactions journals (T-PAMI/IP/CSVT/IFS/MM/CYB) and 12 papers are published in top-tier computer vision conferences (ICCV/CVPR/ECCV). He serves an Associate Editor for Pattern Recognition Letters and Neurocomputing. He served as an Area Chair for ICME 2015 and ICB 2015, and a Special Session Chair for VCIP 2015, respectively. Recently, he gave tutorials at CVPR 2015, FG 2015, ACCV 2014, ICME 2014 and IJCB 2014. He is a senior member of the IEEE.
