2008 Season

In 2008, Eltisley Cricket Club has had another successful season, both on and off the pitch.  Steve Taylor took over as Club Captain with Marc Petzer assuming the roll of vice-captain and on-field captain.

Whilst a few fixtures were cancelled due to bad weather, we managed to win 10 out of 11 friendlies and 9 out of 14 cup games.  Having entered four cup competitions, we reached the finals of the Coote and Cranfield Cups.  Sadly, we underperformed in both finals and had to settle for the runners up spot in both cups.

In addition to these we played a ‘village friendly’, an ‘Eltisley/Kempston’ mixed game when eight Kempston players failed to turn up and a highly competitive ‘Over 30s vs Unders 30s’ game to launch Feast Week.

There were many excellent performances throughout the season.  Aaron Johnson recorded his maiden hundred scoring 110 vs St Ives whilst Eddie Relihan ended the season with 33 wickets.  Sam Johnson ended the season as top run scorer amassing a total of 549 runs in all matches (excluding Hunts DCC game).
