2007 Season

At the end of 2006, after 151 years, the future of Eltisley Cricket Club looked uncertain.  Thankfully, the club continued into its 152nd year, effectively with a re-launch under the captaincy of Chris Clarke.  With support from the village community, the Parish Council and the hard work of individuals, the club had an excellent season with many close games enjoyed by all that came to watch.

As you can see from the results, there were some extremely close and competitive matches.  Out of the 15 completed matches, Eltisley won 13 and drew 1.  The team suffered it’s only defeat of the season to St Ives first team in the Semi-Final of the Smith Barry Cup.

There were some excellent individual performances too, most notably 110 from Mark Petzer against Trojans and quick fire 76 from Eddie Relihan in 6 overs against Lee Johnson’s XI .  Dominic Walker took 32 wickets in the course of the season with Aaron Johnson and Steve Taylor topping the batting and bowling averages respectively.  However, most pleasing was the performance and contribution of the many junior players this year.
