I have more audiobooks than the aforementioned "Areas of my Expertise". They were all acquired at my favorite price. (Sorry authors! I do sometimes buy books though!) And this morning, we are playing the version of this guy, written and read by the previously considered DFW. Of course, I wasn't thinking of that when I was drawing the below character; I was thinking of Trevor Corson's The Secret Life of Lobsters, and actually his blog, which I had linked to earlier that week when I was making an email reference to the "humane" method of killing (how to kill a lobster, redux). Anyhow, I was thinking about them, so I drew this guy:
Now, you might think, "Mortimer?" That, of course, is a remnant of the aforementioned Hodgman offering that has lodged itself in my head, from his version of HenryIV, partI, ActI, SceneIII:
"...The king forbade my tongue to speak of Mortimer, but I will find him when he lies asleep, And in his ear I'll holloa 'Mortimer.' Nay; I'll have a lobster shall be taught to speak nothing but 'Mortimer,' and give it him to keep his anger still in motion."
Consequently, I can't think of a lobster without thinking, "Mortimer!"
...when really Mortimer should be associated with birdwatching, or the Canadian band that I heard one hook of one song of back in 1999 and then spent 5 years trying to figure out who they were*. Earworm!
or Trading Places! (originally there was audio here from that movie)
or this lady: (originally there was audio here from Silence of the Lambs)
I could go for some fava beans. Or lamb. But thinking about Trevor Corson makes me want a little more for sushi. But sushi is way too far away from the instruments and the instruments are conducive to having time to listen to books.
And of course the doing of work occurs here too.
These spectra won't take themselves....yet.
You can see the bind I'm in.
And, back on the Corson note, he compiles all his music better than me: DASTARDLY!
*It was like the episode of "Pete and Pete" featuring the song "Summerbaby" (which is certainly in my best of Polaris Mix).
