Happy Juneteenth!

might not have remembered if not for all the cheap thrill seekers, the vendors and the dealers:they crowded around me

The Blackening of The Green Lantern

This was, as most everything I do, concieved without any sort of social or political statement in mind.

In fact, it was only going to refer to a story that involved a master plan when I was a kid to exclusively wear t-shirts with superhero logos on them and how this plan went awry over the years and instead I just wear long sleeves most of the time, if not a jacket.  Maybe there would be a reference dropped regarding eczema and skin allergies. Even though that's actually come up here before.  Hehe.  Whoops.  Anyhow.

Surely I was going to say something about how my background also yields frank and open discussions about race and how the green lantern used to be a white guy but over the years that changed, perhaps sending you to a wikipedia article on the matter, and I was going to bring up black superheroes and their origins in the process, and maybe discussing the social and economic implications of that with respect to changes in media and demographics and things...and probably, eventually really, I would get back to making an oblique reference to Michael Jackson, bringing it all back to skin conditions in a manner evincing ...questionable taste.

I said, "If you're thinkin' of being my brother
It don't matter if you're black or white"

But then I woke up this morning and realized that my bus would have a detour today and not actually stop near my regular spot due to the local Juneteenth carnival setting up down the street.  Are you familiar with Juneteenth? You should be.   So I was a little late.  And then there were some instrumental communications issues.  So this stuff is hitting the back burner until I find the stickie-note on the order of operations for a clean reboot.  So until next week,
