Ch 4 - Groups
Students will be studying conformitiy, roles, statuses, social institutions, and other terms that help guide human interaction.  To conclude this chapter, we will be watching the movie "Lord of the Flies."

Medical-Ethical Issues
Students will be researching a medical-ethical issue and presenting their information to the class.  We will also be learning about and watching a video about assissted suicide.
 
Ch 9 Social Stratification
In this chapter, students will be studying types of social stratification like the class system traditionally used in India.  We will also be looking at the U.S. class sytem which consists of lower, middle and upper class.  Our final topic will be poverty and the effects of poverty on people.
Flowers for Algernon
Students will be reading the book "Flowers for Algernon." After reading the book, we will be doing a project about ethics and medicine. We also will be looking at assisted suicide.
Culture
During this chapter, students will get a better understanding of what culture is and the components that make up culture. We will also be studying different cultures around the world.

Paranormal Activity
Students are going to have the opportunity to pick a paranormal activity and research it and then teach the rest of the class about the paranormal activity.

Ch 9 Social Stratification
In this chapter, we will be studying the caste system.  The caste system is what the country of India has.  In this system, you are born into a particular class and will remain there your untire life.  You also must marry someone from your same caste.  Jobs are determined by the caste a person is in.
The United States has a class system.  For the most part, the class a person is in is determined by the amount of money a family has.
The third major topic we will be looking at is poverty in America.  We will be studying the effects poverty has on people.
