Congratulations to Jayden Lam in winning the 'silver' medal for the U15 boys team at the Australia Junior Open Table Tennis Championship held in Melbourne from 29/9/13 to 5/10/13. A total of over 200 players from Australia and Korea participated in the event. Jayden also made the top 16 in the U15 boys singles, losing to a Korean player, Kim Seung Lin in the R16. Jayden also played a critical role in the playoff match against Vic B by levelling the team score at 3-3, paving the way for a nail biting NSW win at the end. At the closing function, he was named as the No 7 player in the Order of Merit in the U15 team event, reflecting his fine 83.33% winning percentage in the pool matches.
Our other member, Ethan Chow, also played with credit in the NSW U13 B team, achieving a winning percentage of 41.67% in the pool matches and 50% in the playoff matches. He came 2nd in both the U13 and U15 singles round robin group with fine wins over more experienced players, but was unfortunate not to make it to the main draw. As a debutant in the nationals, Ethan has made big progress during the week and has gained much experience from this trip.
