You are invited into a cozy chair and to enjoy a nice cup of tea

What wondrous love this is oh my soul, oh my soul. Tea does the body good. When you include a slice of cake or cookie, it just makes the daily tasks more manageable. We stumbled upon "Elevenses" while putting together a cookbook, Gloria's Country Victorian Entertaining and Recipe Box, dedicated to my late mother, Gloria Ann [Johnson] Hemenway.

Elevenses is a traditional United Kingdom and Ireland requirement for a hot beverage, usually tea or coffee, enjoyed with a slice of cake or biscuit[cookie] at 11 am. It is used to fill the gap between breakfast and lunch. There is a delightful quote that also references this sweet escape:

"When late morning rolls around and you're feeling a bit out of sorts, don't worry; you're probably just a little eleven o'clockish!" ~Winnie the Pooh

In today's hectic world, it is important to pause and unplug, even if it is for only 5 minutes, it is time well spent. Like the old adage, "stop and smell the roses", we need to slow down and let all the noise die down. This allows us to return our focus back toward our main purpose, fellowship with Jesus.

"And therefore the Lord [earnestly] waits [expectant, looking & longing] to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up, that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed [happy, fortunate. to be envied] are all those who [earnestly] wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him [for His victory, His favor, His peace, His joy, and His matchless, unbroken companionship]!" Isaiah 30:18

There are so many options that we can utilize to praise and worship the Lord. The Elevenses & Afternoon Tea Guild has been established as just one option or rendezvous point [connection] to concentrate on and to rejuvenate a personal relationship with Jesus. Just like our bodies needing a little snack to energize us to finish our daily tasks [our fleshly body], we can apply that same concept to our spiritual needs. In truth, we are to digest [function on] 'real meals' not to rely on just snacks [short lived energy boosters that fissile out]. We are called to spend quiet time with God [the main meal of the day]

"Ascribe to the Lord the glory due to his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of His holiness." ~Psalm 29:2

Here is the same verse above Psalm 29:1-2 from The Message:

"Bravo, God, Bravo! Gods and all angels shout, "Encore!" In awe before the glory, in awe of God's visible power. Stand at attention! Dress your best to honor Him!"

A healthy snack [or just pausing for a moment to Thank Jesus] helps to sustain the energy [focus] from the main nutritional meal [your main prayer or quiet time with God] and keeps you going forward in the day. The concept of Elevenses or Afternoon Tea brings a sense of special time [quality time as in the second verse used above, 'dress your best to honor Him!'] set aside to enjoy the day God has given us. It also creates an image of gathering with a friend for good conversation. And that is precisely what our quiet time with Jesus is about, praising Him and enjoying good conversation with Him. Prayer is conversation between good friends.

This website offers, in addition to personal testimony and Bible Study, recipes, fun facts about tea, and little special touches that can be shared with others. It is all offered up as praise and worship to our Lord Jesus Christ.

"Ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and work in it, & you will find rest for your souls."~Jeremiah 6:16

You are cordially invited to browse through the website.
