Welcome Page

Welcome to this website which I have designed in order to share with you a little bit about my professional and teaching experience. I am Assistant Professor in Arts and Cultural Management at Eastern Michigan University. I grew up in Madrid, Spain. I have two bachelor degrees, one in Performing Studies (Theatre) and the other in Public Relations and Advertisement.

As a professional arts manager I founded and directed a nonprofit organization in 2005 (Desconocid@s Teatro) and a for profit art organization (Vistapalabra S.L) in 2006 which I directed for 8 years among other projects.

In 2010, I combined my professional life with research, receiving my PH.D in 2013 with a dissertation on Audience Reception and Accessibility. My dissertation was evaluated with the highest rating Cum Laude and candidate for special honors, and it was also highlighted as one of the most relevant research in developing new theatrical codes for accessibility in the “Guide to Theatre Accessibility” of the Ministry of Social Services, Health and Equality of Spain (2013). Today I continue my work as a teacher and a researcher following the belief that the arts are crucial for the development of healthy and vibrant communities.

My research focuses on audience reception, social integration arts and environmental issues, and community building.
