Philips Sonicare DiamondClean

Philips Sonicare DiamondClean electric toothbrush is a highly advanced version in the Sonicare series of toothbrushes which comes with a hefty price tag of around $200 with a 2-year limited warranty.

But do not get deterred by its price and let us weigh the benefits of this electric toothbrush before reaching the final decision of whether or not one should purchase this highly recommended toothbrush.

Which I am sure will be a possibility after we are done reviewing this DiamondClean Sonic electric toothbrush.

Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Features

Design

Firstly, in terms of appearance, the toothbrush itself appears to be very trendy with an overall smooth exterior rubber coating giving the toothbrush a high-end value status.

The DiamondClean toothbrush comes in two colors – Ceramic White and Black.  The coolest feature of this toothbrush, in terms of looks, is the glass in which the brush stood on.

Charger

People might scratch their heads paying for a glass along with the brush itself but the coolest aspect of it is that glass actually acts as the charger.  How cool is that?

The DiamondClean’s battery lasts up to three weeks after a full charge before it needs to be juiced up again.  Pretty impressive, right?

Other than that, the rechargeable battery needs to be charged up for 24 hours prior to its first use.

The user just has to drop the brush, handle side down into the glass and the charging base at the bottom of the glass will start to charge the battery.

If the user does not wish to use the glass, he/she can plug the brush directly with base and charge stand.  The glass and the charging base are waterproof as well.

So, no worries accidentally dropping it into the sink or drying out your wet toothbrush inside the glass.

There are more options to charge up the rechargeable battery via placing it in the travel case (included in the package) and charging it with a USB Cable with the other end of cable plugged on the wall socket.

The charging light will be highlighted as green when it is fully charged and yellow which indicates that it has 12 more uses to go until needs a full recharge.

Timers

Being one of the best Sonicare toothbrush in Philips’ Sonicare family, the DiamondClean also incorporates a built-in 2 minutes SmarTimer which turns off on its own after it has thoroughly cleaned the mouth and plaques after two minutes.

The brush also comes with the QuadPacer function which divides the entire mouth into four sections and cleans each of these sections for 30 seconds, upon completion of which, a tone will be sounded indicating that it is time for the user to clean the next section of his/her mouth.

The Easy-Start mode is also available for those who have sensitive teeth.  All of the three functionalities above are present in other Sonicare electric toothbrushes as well.

Cleaning Modes

There are several cleaning modes specifically crafted into the DiamondClean electric toothbrush that one may not find in other similar toothbrushes.

Here are a few of those modes explained in brief:
  • Clean – Standard 2-minute mode
  • White – Whitening mode to remove surface stains and polish front teeth
  • Polish – 1-minute quick polish of the front teeth
  • Gum Care – Combination of Clean Mode and Gum Care to massage and improve gum health &
  • Sensitive – Extra Gentle Mode for sensitive teeth and gums

I would recommend users to first try out the various cleaning modes to analyze and see which one fits their style the most.

One can also try to cycle through the different cleaning modes by pressing the on/off button and a different color of light will light up according to the mode the brush is on at that moment.

Be careful not to switch modes while the brush head is inside your mouth because then the toothpaste will splatter all over the sink and on your clothes as well.
