Thematic programs

Challenges of electoral integrity raise multiple issues which deserve to be addressed throughout the electoral cycle, from the design of electoral laws and the role, powers and independence of Electoral Management Bodies to problems of voter suppression, the regulation of money in campaigns, the difficulty of contested elections, the need to preserve security and detect ballot-box fraud,  the dearth of women and ethnic minorities in elected office,  and the need to strengthen voter education and civic engagement. Visiting fellows and workshops have debated all these issues and many more.

The EIP team has developed several key programs.
The approach used in EIP is also problem-oriented, policy-relevant and intersectional by drawing upon several sub-fields and disciplines, cutting across boundaries in the social sciences.
