Important Announcements

Inquirers Group:  If you are interested in learning more about English Lutheran Church and the possibility of becoming a member, please contact our church office..

Requirements and Guidelines for Gathering in the Sanctuary: As the number of Covid-19 cases continue to rise, we would like to take this time to remind everyone of the following:
  • If you are not feeling well (yes, even your normal seasonal sinus congestion)…
  • If you are awaiting Covid-19 test results…
  • If you live with someone who is awaiting Covid-19 test results…
…please don’t come to worship inside the sanctuary.

Please utilize our drive-in service where you can still receive Holy Communion, watch the worship service live on our Facebook page, or watch the worship service later that evening on our website or YouTube Channel.

If you have been exposed to someone who has a positive test you should quarantine for 2 weeks; even if you have tested negative.

If you or any member of your household has any of the following symptoms within 48 hours prior to your attendance at English, we ask that you remain home:
  • Fever or chills Muscle/body aches Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose New loss of taste or smell Fatigue
  • Nausea or vomiting Diarrhea Headache Cough (unrelated to asthma)
  • Shortness of breath/difficulty breathing (unrelated to asthma)
Please use the provided hand sanitizer after entering the building: it is available in the sacristy, Narthex, coatroom, and upstairs bathrooms.  After using hand sanitizer, please pick up a pre-packaged serving of Holy Communion which we will all receive together during service. This is a hybrid service. The service will be transmitted to the parking lot should you wish to remain in your car. (Holy Communion will be brought to you if you are staying in your vehicle.) All members are required to wear a mask during any spoken word. As Christians it is our called responsibility to care for the community.
  • Members may enter and exit through any external door.
  • Once seated, bulletins will be brought to you by an usher.
  • Doors will be propped open.
  • Worship will be in word, not in song.
  • Offering plates will be placed in the rear of the sanctuary and sacristy.

Sharing is caring! Please help spread the word of Pastor Jack and English by sharing! We want the community to know the great things about our church!

THE CALL COMMITTEE The Synod has approved ELC for calling a full time pastor with the understanding we would need to use some funds held in reserve that would carry us for approximately 10 years. After discussion and reviewing financial data with the finance committee, Council believes a full time pastor would be best to help guide English in many areas, especially the area of growth, unless there is significant objection from the congregation. We encourage you to speak to a member of the finance committee, Council, Sister, or Pastor if you have questions or concerns.

YOUR OFFERING:  When we aren’t in church to put an offering in the plate, there are other ways to still give. The church is still receiving and checking mail, so you can mail a check (please include your envelope for recording purposes) to the church. You can also give electronically by going to our website or downloading the ELCA app on your phone or tablet. These are secure online sites. If you would like assistance with either of these please fell free to reach out to a council member and they can help get you started.

PASTOR JACK OFFICE HOURS:  Beginning Monday, June 22nd, Pastor Jack will be in the office Monday and Wednesday's.  Visitors are asked to call for an appointment to allow for social distancing and to please wear a mask.  You can make an appointment by calling Pastor Jack at 724-448-4231 or the church office at 724-452-8110.Pastor Jack will suspend his visits to shut-ins. He will call them and send cards until he is able to safely resume visitations.

We thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through this time of uncertainty while doing our best to be mindful of the safety and health of all. Please feel free to reach out to Pastor Jack, members of Council, or the office for any of your needs or concerns.

FREE COMMUNITY MEAL - HOW YOU CAN HELP -Thank you for supporting this mission to feed others in need. Many have reached out asking how they can help and that is greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, we can’t have too many hands in the kitchen right now in order to keep it as clean and sanitized as possible for Meals on Wheels. However, we do have two ways you can help from home.

Baking desserts – Desserts are not being advertised as part of our free meal because we cannot guarantee a dessert for each meal, but we are accepting baked goods to include with as many meals as we can. Please keep in mind that we will be packaging them in Ziploc bags or a small Styrofoam container. Cookies, brownies, dessert bars, and sheet (single layer pan) cakes are best and easiest for us to manage with the limited number of people helping. If you can help out with a dozen cookies or pan of brownies, please contact Jenn Kaufman (724-766-0817) to make arrangements.

Financial donations – you can help by making a financial donation for us to purchase needed supplies. We’ve been approved for a matching grant of up to $500.00!! We plan on continuing to provide these meals for as long as we can. Even when we return to ‘normal’, it will take some time for many to get back on their feet. Here’s some information:

A little info about the meals we are serving: Please be assured that we are practicing safety guidelines by washing hands and wearing gloves. We have a sign out front asking people to practice social distancing if they want to pick up their meal. There is a table blocking the entrance to Bassler Hall so no one can enter the building. We also offer curbside pick up to those that prefer to remain in their vehicle. Most importantly, Jenn Kaufman has spoken to the Zelienople Chief of Police to ensure we are in compliance with all guidelines and mandates. If you have any questions, concerns, or meal suggestions, please reach out to Jenn Kaufman or any council member.
