El Carmelo Elementary School LibraryA place for great reading! Each class visits the library once a week for a lesson from the librarian. Students are allowed to check out books during their visit or they may come during recess, lunch or after school to return or check out books. Library lessons vary from grade to grade, but our goal is to instill a love of reading, teach students how to use resources and provide a safe and welcoming place for all students.
Lending Policy
We encourage our students to take advantage of our collection. Students may check out books within reasonable limits. The kindergarten and first grade students typically check out two to three books. Students may check out as many books as they need for researching h or school projects. If a student has overdue books, they are encouraged to return them before they check out other books. If a book is lost or damaged, the student will be asked to pay replacement cost. Cash or checks made payable to PAUSD are accepted. Parents We have a great selection of character education books plus parenting books. Please visit us and peruse our collection. Parents may check out books too!
Would you like to donate a book to our library? You may donate through our PTA sponsored program or through our school book fairs. Did you know that all the money that you spend at our book fairs directly benefits our school library?!! Thank you for helping us keep our collection current. Every year, students are invited to track their summer reading and earn points for prizes when school begins again. Be sure to ask the librarian for the summer reading form just before the school year ends.
