Little Thoughts had been moved and this page is from now on used for notification only.

Ela Lond's Little Thoughts are available here. All the notification posted on this site will be also reposted on the blog.

English is not my first language and my grammar is, without the supervision of my beloved and very adored editor, horrible; the fact that I'm sloppy by nature doesn't help, so, even though I use editors/betas for my stories, I don't intend to do that for my Little Thoughts. That means that if you intend to read this blog, don't expect perfect grammar and be prepared to stumble over some stupid mistakes. I'll try my best, but unfortunately commas, tenses and all those similar-sounding words like to play tricks on me.

Release of The13th: Destiny Awaits

posted 1 Jul 2013 00:55 by Ela Lond

Yey, finally, here it is my paranormal romance with ghosts. For the first three months is only going to be available via Amazon. For five day (until Friday, the fifth of July), it's going to be available for free.

(The cover is made by Elaina Lee. She also made The 13th: Ineluctable Fate one.)

With the help of friends and KB member. I got  two summaries:

Summary 1: Kate, the school outcast, has always been able to see ghosts, and she constantly fears that someday, her so-called 'gift' will drive her mad like it did her mother, who has now been confined to a mental asylum. But when Ethan, the hot transfer student, tells her that she's a Soul Reaper and offers to train her, she thinks he's the crazy one. However, Kate soon realises that being a Soul Reaper isn't exactly a choice, and more importantly, maybe becoming a Soul Reaper will help her to find the answers she needs to save her sanity.

Summary 2: Kate, the school outcast, has always been able to see ghosts. She lives in fear that someday, her ‘gift’ might push her over the edge like it did her mother, who had attacked Kate in a fit of supernatural terror and now lives in a mental asylum. With the ever-present ghosts, her institutionalised mother, the unwanted attention from a bully and everything else going on in a teenage girl’s life, all Kate wants is to graduate quickly and without troubles. But that becomes impossible when Ethan, a gorgeous new transfer student, takes an interest in her, claiming that she is the Soul Reaper, and that he is there to train her. Things get even worse when her nemesis, the school bully Sandra, decides that she wants Ethan for herself.

Then, when I couldn’t decided which one two use, I used first part of the first one and the last part of the second one.

This story was inspired by anime Yamato Nadeshiko shichi Henge Takano aka The Wallflower. I like that anime a lot. I like the drama, too, but not as much as anime.

Release of Precocious

posted 4 Mar 2013 03:30 by Ela Lond

I uploaded another short story on Smashwords and Amazon US, UK, DE

Precocious is a 13,000 words long fantasy about fairies and it uses Cinderella story as a guideline.

(The cover made by The Book Cover Designer)

Summary: In the world of fairies, seventeen-year-old Rue's days consist of farming, cleaning, selling her crops at the local market or in the human world above, while her stepmother and stepsister attend dances, parties and any society event her stepmother manages to get invited to. Rue never cared for dances and never wished to go to one until Andrew, one of the Prince's friends, invites her to a ball that Rue's stepmother doesn't want her to attend.

The sample can be read here.

At the beginning, this story was titled Precarious and was suppose to be happening in the backstage of a concert tour, but since I haven't found enough of information about concert's backstage to get a feel of the backstage surroundings and dynamic, I used the characters for this fairytale. The title Precarious defined one of the characteristic of the roadie Rue, but because the fairy story called for a different character arch and conclusion, Rue in this story isn'tt clumsy. So replaced Precarious with Precocious, which I believe identifies the fairy Rue much better.

Precocious an adjective with two meanings:

1. Manifesting or characterized by unusually early development or maturity, especially in mental aptitude.

2. Botany Blossoming before the appearance of leaves.

Release of The 13th: Ineluctable Fate

posted 18 Nov 2012 02:47 by Ela Lond

I have just uploaded another short story on Smashwords and Amazon US, UK, DE.

The 13th: Ineluctable Fate is a (15,000 words long) paranormal romance. It part of The 13th series and it's set in Victorian London (160 years before The 13th: Destiny Awaits).

I love the cover, it was custom made by  Elaina Lee who made such a great job.

Summary: As the Awakener, Ashton Godwill eased ghosts’ passage into the other world and obliterated Soul Eaters – ghosts who have lost their auras and feed on the spirit energy of others. When the number of Soul Easters suddenly increases, Ashton’s guardian employs the help of the Reaper. Unfortunately, the Reaper is the boy who broke Ashton’s heart, the boy Ashton would rather never see again.

The sample can be read here.

Release of Short Story Collection

posted 8 Oct 2012 00:26 by Ela Lond

My Short Story Collection is now available on Smashwords and Amazon.

(Cover made by Kerri Klawiter)

Summary:
Ela Lond's Short Story Collection covers a variety of genres, including fantasy, contemporary romance, paranormal and horror, but all have one thing in common: young adult protagonists.

Heart Strings (5,000 words/15 pages long) is a fantasy romance.
Faith is a Controller studying at the Academy for Alchemists, Controllers and Mages to secure a successful life after graduation. Until the boy she secretly always thought of as her hero endangers her scholarship and with that her future.

For your entertainment (8,000 words/22 pages long) is a slow-building contemporary high-school romance.
From the first moment Mandy Hill saw Tyler Webster shooting hoops she wanted to get close to him, but for that she would have to become popular. Not an easy task for a girl with adjustment problems and a brother who liked to play weirdo. And becoming friends with the school outcast didn’t help either.

This Feeling (7,000 words/20 pages long) is a paranormal with shape-shifters.
Alex, a high school student, has entered the Year of the Change, as Werefelines call the stage of life in which their transformations into cat form begin. Alex hates it, though, and soothes the pain of metamorphosis with drinking and denial -- until a mysterious black panther crosses her path.

Lost (5,000 words/15 pages long) is a fantasy romance.
Hope, a trained assassin, only had one goal in life, to kill the General, a childhood friend who broke her heart when he sided with the oppressive and despotic ruler of their nation.

Together Forever (9,000 words/25 pages long) is a horror story
Leah and Adam, survivors of the plague that all but wiped out humanity on the Fourth Continent, are on a dangerous journey to Assembly, the only way out of the zombie-infested continent. Can their love survive death, and all that comes after?

Samples and free reads can be read  here.

These five stories have three different sources of inspiration.
Heart Strings has been inspired by the movie Sucker Punch or I should say that I have been watching that movie when I got the idea for the Heart Strings. Lost has been inspired by the Coheed and Cambria's song Deranged (great song). I was brainstorming for For your entertainment since I wanted to have a short story with The13th: Desinty Awaits's side characters (still working on the main story). And I dreamt about the This Feeling and Together Forever. Well, not exactly dreamt the whole story, just parts of it and then worked out the rest in my dozing time, you know, just before you have to get up. I noticed that my mind works the best in the time when I'm just half awake. Or in the evenings when I lay in bed waiting for sleep.

I get a lot ideas in my dreams. Just today I dreamt about a large hall with plants creeping along its pink marble walls and the group of women, girls, that tried to speed the growth of the plants with magic, since they needed it for the healing of the planet or something similar. And there was a girl with more magic then the rest, who was very upset when she learned that the man (he was really yummy) has sold those plants instead of giving them away for free.I don't know if I'm ever going to expand this image, but it could become an interesting story.

Release of Hegira

posted 15 Aug 2012 09:39 by Ela Lond

Hegira, a short (11,000 words long) fantasy romance is now available on: Amazon Kindle US, Amazon Kindle UK and Amazon Kindle DE. I decided to try the Amazon's Selects that's why it won't be available on Smashwords and its retailers for quite a while (3 months).

Well, anyway, here is a summary of the story that is happening in Victorian London (despite that it isn't specially specified in the story, but I did used the customs of that time):

Amanda believed she was alone in the world, afraid of never being able to escape her uncle's greedy clutches, especially after he betrothed her to a complete stranger. But then three men burst into the house, interrupting the wedding, and take her away. The intruders call themselves Elementals, and she begins to rediscover her forgotten connection to them.

The sample can be read here.

I have already shown the covers for this short story, but because I love it so much, I'm sharing it again. It's so gorgeous.

Changes

posted 4 May 2012 08:11 by Ela Lond

I made some changes on the web page. I removed Little Thoughts and started a blog under that name. The link to it is on the left side of the page. This  page is now only going to be used for notification about releases.

I have also made a New Release Mailing List, which is also on the left side of the page just above the link to the blog. So, for everybody who wants to be notified about my book's releases, about when I upload them to Amazon and Smashwords , thatis the link to click.

One of the reasons why I made it is that Silver Moon's Reflection release is probably (70% probability) going to be moved to June. I guess I miscalculated again despite that I have given myself one month more than I had spent on the Blue Moon's Reflection. I could always fast forward everything, but I want to have it in the best shape that I can have it. I believe that if I'm doing something I should do to the best of my abilities, be the best that I can be. What's the point of doing something if you are only doing it half heartedly, right?

Reposted under Little Thought.

Pictures

posted 24 Mar 2012 01:16 by Ela Lond   [ updated 4 May 2012 04:45 ]

Since Silver Moon's Reflection is finished and in first stages of editing, so I started to write Destiny Awaits. Since I also do covers for my books I also started to work on Destiny Awaits cover.  This is its second version:

I like it, but my friend said that it's childish looking, which I agree. So I'm going to change the ornaments (I just bought 660 Typographic Ornaments Dover - awesome clip-art book),  dress the girl and add a tree or branches to the background. So with this in mind I had my camera with me on my usual walk with my aunt and her dog. I took some pictures not just of trees but also of landscape and I'm sharing them:

And this is the dog, Siva. She's such a naughty thing who adores me; all those treats that she got did the trick.

And since I'm already at pets, here's the picture of my cat. She sure likes boxes. If I don't want for her to claim a box I have to hide it from her.

Hope you are having a good week.

Movies

posted 11 Feb 2012 13:07 by Ela Lond   [ updated 4 May 2012 04:44 ]

I'm Just watching the movie King Kong that's aired on my local TV, and I just remembered that a while ago when I was at my friends place and we were whining that there's no good movies on the TV lately (at least not any new ones), she mentioned it.

She is a big, big animal lover. We were still in high school, going into the store, when she noticed a stray dog. She went to the store and with her lunch money bought a dog sausage, and when the dog ate that one, she went and bought another one. That's how she was and that's how she will always be.

Well, anyway, she started to grumble over the movie, complaining over its end, about how barbarically they killed gorilla. She said the movie itself was okay, but the end sucked and that they should change it.

King Kong without the last scene, which is actually a masterpiece by itself (I was really surprised that she didn't see the original and that remake of King Kong was something new for her), would it work? And would the movie (the original) become a classic and stay in people memories without that scene?
