Eric Kunnen
Eric is an Associate Director of eLearning and Emerging Technologies at Grand Valley State University (GVSU) in Allendale, Michigan. His primary role focuses on collaborating and supporting distance learning initiatives at the university while exploring future trends in emerging technologies in teaching and learning. He also collaborates to research and support academic technologies used in the classroom and in eLearning.

Previously, Eric was the Emerging Technologies Coordinator at Grand Valley State University. His primary role focused on exploring future trends in evolving technologies in teaching and learning along with promoting, coordinating, and managing digital exhibits in the Technology Showcase (gvsu.edu/techshowcase | @gvtechshowcase) located in the Mary Idema Pew Library and Information Commons.

Eric was also the Director of Distance Learning and Instructional Technologies at Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) in Grand Rapids, Michigan. His primary role at GRCC focused on providing leadership, support, and coordination of instructional technologies, classroom multimedia, distance learning, Blackboard (Bb), and emerging technologies for teaching and learning. He also supported faculty professional development around the application of technology in education.

Eric has had experience using Bb since 1999 and Eric and has been involved in system administration, project management for upgrades, faculty training, and end user support. Eric is a frequent participant on listservs, a Blackboard MVP ("Ask the Doctors") moderator, is involved in beta testing and the Product Development Partnership Program, and is a member of the Bb Steering Committee.

He was also a member of the EDUCAUSE Advisory Committee on Teaching and Learning.
Eric delivers presentations and attends several conferences, reads journals, and is involved in research projects related to technology and it's use in teaching. Eric works to disseminate this information to faculty and other groups on campus through demonstrations, meetings, his blog, Twitter, and other social media.

Eric has a background in teaching Computer Science and Biology at the secondary level and a Master of Arts in Education with an emphasis in Educational Technology.
