WS Directions (1).mp4This class is a freshmen level course and is an EK graduation requirement. According to the Ohio Department of Education Modern World History (World Studies at East Knox) “examines world events from 1600 to the present. It explores the impact of the democratic and industrial revolutions, the forces that led to world domination by European powers, the wars that changed empires, the ideas that led to independence movements and the effects of global interdependence. The concepts of historical thinking introduced in earlier grades continue to build with students locating and analyzing primary and secondary sources from multiple perspectives to draw conclusions.”
History Through Film
As the syllabus highlights, History through Movies aka “Reel” History, covers a variety of historical periods through the use of movies. This class is more than just watching movies and eating popcorn. Students will be responsible for reading and writing assignments, as well as participating in class discussions. The class will be looking at periods of history as they were portrayed in the movies, as well as the events that were occurring during the making of the movie.
Yearbook
This class is responsible for creating, selling and distributing The Bridge, the EK yearbook. Students are responsible for all aspects of the book, taking pictures, interviewing, creating copy and digital layouts. They are also responsible for selling ads and working with others.
