ÉIRE ÓG ON THE FAST TRACK AT THE EUROPA

Over 150 Éire Óg juveniles together with their family and friends attended their annual prize giving party in the Europa Hotel. Thanks to the sponsorship of Fasttrack Mortgage, medals and trophies for their winning exploits in various tournaments during the year were presented to the players by current Antrim Under 21 manager and Minor selector, Mickey Boyle along with current minor starts Sean O’Neill, Kevin McBride and Gerard Crossey. The County board also kindly lent us the Christy Ring and Ulster Hurling Championship Cups for the day.

Event sponsor Gerard McStravick from Fasttrack Mortgage was delighted with the huge turnout and expressed his hope that success for the club would continue. The Club would like to thank Micky, Sean, Kevin and Gerard for taking the time to attend the event and we wish them all the best in the forthcoming season. Thanks also to those who helped organise the day and in particular Steven Carson from the Europa Hotel and to Stephen Monaghan for Elite Cash and Carry who provided party bags for all the kids. We also wish to thank Malachy Wallace from Twin Spires Dental Surgery for agreeing to sponsor next years Under 16 team.

2006 was another successful year for Éire Óg juveniles. Our under 14's had an excellent season in Division 1 having been beaten only once in the League. They also reached the semi final of the Feile and Championship. Our congratulations go to Conor McKenna, Steven McCaffrey, Matt Devlin and Oisin Rogers for being selected for the County U14 team.

Our Under 12's performed well in the league and, with most able to play Under 12 again next year, we are hoping this team will do much better.  At Under 10 we had very good year, winning the Randalstown Blitz, while at Primary 5, despite not winning any silverware we had some excellent performances in tournaments throughout the year. Our Primary 4's had fantastic year, in what was their first real year in playing tournaments. They won our own tournament, the Locus Management Shield, and also the Randalstown Cup.  Finally to our Primary 3', 2's and particularly Primary 1's their progress is remarkable and we look forward to seeing them play some matches early nest next year.

A lot of the success at Éire Óg is attributable to the support we receive from the parents. We wish to take this opportunity to thank those who help out either with coaching, or simply providing lifts for matches.

For those who have indicated giving at hand at coaching we will be running our course after Christmas. For those that aren't involved, we would like to encourage you to lend a hand, in whatever way you can. It’s your childrens’ club and its success depends on you. We intend establishing a juvenile committee to look after things like fundraising, child protection, the sports day, BBQ etc... It will not be an onerous job - even if you committed to do one thing eg: Sports Day, it would be a great help, so please join us. If you're interested please get in touch with one of the club members.
