BEANS- Spicey Beans

Beans are so healthy but we need to make them tasty and more interesting. 
This recipe is based on Manjulaskitchen.com recipes for Indian foods.
 
I like to use barlotti beans but any plain bean will do. 
You can cook your own from dried, or use tinned beans which have been drained and rinsed well.
 
RECIPE
1 tall tin Barlotti Beans, rinsed
1 teaspoon ground Coriander
1/2 teaspoon Garam Masala (a mixture of Indian spices - not hot)
1/4 teaspoon Chilli powder but only if you like a bit of heat
Pinch of Salt
Olive Oil to cook
 
NOTE:  you can use any combination of spices, I have given these suggestions above as a starting point for you.
 
METHOD
Heat a small omellette pan or an ordinary pan will do
Pour about 1 tablespoon of oil or more into the pan and when it is hot but not smoking quickly
sprinkle in the spices and cook for a second or so then
add the beans. 
 
Do not burn the spices or you will need to start again. 
 
VARIATIONS
In Tomato Sauce
Add a tall tin of chopped tomatoes after the spices and leave to boil until it reduces and thickens then add beans to heat them through.  If it is too spicey for you add some plain yoghurt as it is cooling.
 
Just a little sauce to make them moist
If you don't want to use tomatoes to make a sauce then you can use a tablespoon of Besan by sprinkling it in with the spices to cook for a few seconds and then adding a little recently boiled water, stirring well before adding the beans.  If it is too hot add a little milk or yoghurt to cool the firey spices.
