Review of the bike Tour to Germany

The author of this review: Iris from Austria - now retired

Tour description:

we started at Vienna. With the night train to Cologne (Köln). By local train to Düren and then...

1st night at the Hotel Klostermühle at Heimbach, which is more or less the entrance to the Eifel.

Passing Geroldstein (very good and tasty Mineral water - they offer public wells for a free of charge bottle refill) and the Kyll bicycle path to Trier.

Following the river Mosel to Koblenz. Koblenz to Cologne at the river Rhein bicycle path.

We stopped at the city of Wesseling, made another 100 kilometer cycle seeing Düren again.

With night train back home...

Eifel:

at Düren, we have met my former college Adolf and my former managing director Raimund (a very good biker in his age of 71...).

We have been riding over Nideggen (castle) to Heimbach (Hotel Klostermühle -very recommended!)

Eifel - just beautiful! Old German houses, friendly people, good food, good beer & wine!

Bicyclists: check out for the 'Kyll Radweg' ! A hidden beauty!

An exception : a very bad experience:

Castle Schloss Kronenburg

We paid € 125,- for a first class stay, but received something else…

We will forget this and not report anymore:

The castle keeper has later refuded a rather huge portion of our payment and that`s make us to delete the details...

This location is (maybe) for luxuray car drivers only... ;-(

Mosel:

so many river loops - for what the river Mosel is known.

Distance Trier - Koblenz: 100 Kilometers on road - 180 Kilometers on water

is a very touristic place. Nevertheless worth to see and bike!

The good thing: the perfect infrastructure: accomodation, food, drinks...

Rhein:

THANK YOU !
