GDS-best practices loading rates

Rate mix is very important for your property to be seen and receive bookings from any channel.
GDS has some unique requirements.  Consider this:

• Many business travel agents search their office systems (GDS) for corporate rates.  If you don’t have a corporate rate plan loaded in our system, your property will not show.
• Many Leisure Travel Agents search for promotional rates (PROM).  If you don’t have any loaded your property doesn’t appear
• Many Travel Agent web sites use either of the corporate and promotional searches in the search codes on their website. 

To maximise bookings ensure you have following publicly viewable rate plans:

1.) BAR should be loaded on the GDS against the RACK category.   Load your Best Available Unrestricted rate against this category. 

2.) Corporate – For business travelelrs.

3.) Package - A package can include anything that gives added value such as free parking, a bottle of wine, tickets to events, shuttle service or a meal voucher. Or value added packages such as scuba dive training course included.

4.) Promotional – Promotional rates are just as flexible. These can be anything from increased travel agent commissions; extended stay pricing, advance purchase prices (lead time) or can be based on any system restriction. 

MAINTAIN RATE PARITY WITH ALL OTHER CHANNELS USING A CHANNEL MANAGER.
