People Engagement and Performance through Language Competence and Intercultural Bonding
RBEI (Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions Limited), India, is a 100% owned subsidiary of Robert Bosch GmbH, one of the world's leading global supplier of technology and services, offering end-to-end Engineering, IT and Business Solutions. With over 12,000 associates (average age 28 years), we are the largest software development center of Bosch, outside Germany, indicating we are the Technology Powerhouse of Bosch in India engaging a large and young workforce.

We have a global footprint with presence in US, Europe and the Asia Pacific region. We have seven state-of-the-art facilities spread across Bangalore and Coimbatore in India and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. Our vision is “Smart solutions for the Globe. Smarter by Attitude, Aptitude, Action”.

As RBEI was moving up in the value chain and taking up higher responsibilities in projects from Bosch, Germany and setting up business services with language as core competence, there were many new projects involving international teams. With this, the necessity to travel to the customer locations increased. An imminent need to develop foreign Language (especially German and Japanese) and Intercultural competence skills of the associates to bring them close to the customer was felt.

BINOCULUS (Bosch Institute of Culture and Languages) was established as the in-house language school under HR-Learning and Development at RBEI in 2005 to cater to this huge need.

Key objectives:
  • To enable business by imparting high quality foreign language training of international standard for RBEI associates
  • Equipping the associates with intercultural competence
  • Sensitizing RBEI associates to the customer culture by organizing language and cultural events
This objective is also in line with the Bosch values, especially cultural diversity and openness.
