I was offered an internship at UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), New York Office, for 4 months during my studies at Teachers College, Columbia University (Feb 2011-May 2011).
I worked under the supervision of the Liaison Officer in charge of Social Sciences, Migration, Human Rights, and Focal Point for Africa.
My duties included:
-monitoring, reporting back and preparing coverage of relevant UN meetings
-reporting on the work of the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations
-monitoring UNESCO's inputs to ensure the quality of briefings
-compiling the Compendium of the 65th Session of the General Assembly
In this position I was also asked by UNESCO, Paris to videotape and interview current graduate students and faculty members at several New York Universities for the Global Forum on Rankings and Accountability in Higher Education: Uses and Misuses. The Students' Voices on University Rankings interviews were shown at UNESCO, Paris on May16th and 17th, 2011.
