Short Biography
Dr. Edward T.-H. Chu is a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering at National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, Taiwan. He received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from National Tsing Hua University in 2010. Prior to his doctoral studies, he worked at Acer and Wistron, specializing in BIOS kernel development and obtaining a patent in China for his kernel work. Throughout his academic career, Edward has focused on practical research in areas such as fall detection, trapped victim detection, crowdsourcing, and active emergency response system. His publications feature methods and prototype systems with real-world applications. Collaborating with industry partners, he has successfully transferred technology and facilitated commercialization projects.
Edward's notable achievements include transferring a hyperspectral remote sensing IoT system to Isuzu Optics Corp. and having his embedded operating system tutorial adopted by Microsoft, Taiwan. He has also contributed patented technology for identifying indoor emergency events to Taiwan Shin Knog Security Co., LTD. Furthermore, he co-founded BiDaE. Recently, Edward has developed a mobile augmented reality-based indoor navigation app and explored natural language and social media tools for object tracking queries. His innovative work presents promising opportunities for commercialization. Overall, Edward is a highly accomplished researcher, adept at bridging the gap between academia and practical applications in computer science.
