Topics of interest to EduRex 2012 include, but are not limited to:
  • Combining academic learning and practical skills
  • Student projects and internships
  • Industry-academia collaboration
  • Problem-based learning
  • Project courses
  • Exercises and labs for teaching process models (such as, agile, spiral, iterative)
  • Use of case-studies
  • Software design labs
  • Working on large scale systems
  • Assessment of student projects
The workshop targets at participants having an interest in software engineering education based on real-world experiences. This includes educators in universities as well as in companies with an interest in enriching their current lectures with some practical content or practicing project-oriented learning forms, etc.

EduRex 2012 seeks short (4 pages) position papers (experience reports, problem statements, preliminary ideas, and vision papers), that can serve to spark discussions of specific aspects within the workshop theme. The papers must conform the ICSE 2012 Submission Guidelines. The program committee will review the submission and select a suitable number for presentation at the workshop. The main selection criterion will be the potential to spawn of a lively and possibly controversial discussion.

Important dates:
  • 17th of February: Workshop paper submissions due
  • 19th of March: Notification of workshop paper authors
  • 29th of March: CRC deadline for workshop papers
