The 21st Century has opened up a world of resources to increase knowledge and communicate with people around the world. As an educator of two decades, I am in awe witnessing the transformation of education through the use of technology. My goal and mission is to engage professionals, students, and community members in responsibly transforming education by opening the discussion about resources that make us better individuals. It is also my goal to engage in critical discussions regarding the responsible use of technology in the classroom. Many school districts around the world have opened up the world wide web to students through the use of technology. It is my believe that as powerful as technology is, as educators we need to commit to train parents, students, and community members about the responsible and ethical use of technology to help with personal and professional growth in a morally responsible way. As a student in the Masters in Educational Technology Program, the more knowledge I acquire, the more I feel the responsibility to help others understand not only the great possibilities that digital education has to offer but the challenges that our current educational system poses. As this site takes its form, its mission will be redefined to address the educational needs at hand. This site includes information pertinent to traditional literacies and digital literacies as the one does not exclude the other. This is my personal platform and it only represents my own opinions regarding different topics in education. I have chosen to include character education as part of my platform as I believe that it is only through strong communities and families that responsible learning occurs. Adriana Castillo Blog Spot |
