I was born and raised in Casper, WY (no, I didn't ride a horse or live on a ranch). After high school and a few years of college I enlisted in the United States Navy to see the world and try something new. During my nine year stint with the Navy I traveled all around the world and was fortunate enough to experience many different cultures. My primary job within the Navy was to operate and maintain the weapons systems onboard ship, including radar systems, gun and missile systems, and just about every electronic device you can imagine. I have hunted pirates, fired more than 1,000 rounds of 3-inch high explosive point-detonate rounds, shot two missiles, and successfully sank a US ship. After leaving the service I began work as an Instructional Designer for a large government contractor.
Teaching & Learning
The last four years of my time with the Navy were spent as an instructor for Naval gun and missile defense systems. I have experience in developing both ILT and WBT for the military and have redesigned two course of instruction for the Navy. Currently I work as a designer helping to create WBT for the Navy's primary communications sites. Our target learners for this particular project consist of sailors with little to no experience or training on the systems and theories we are introducing.
I love to play Monopoly, Risk, and Trivial Pursuit. Unfortunately, I RARELY get a chance to do so as I am working full-time, attending school, and raising both my 9 month old daughter Taylor, and my 4 year old son Riley (with my wife and MUCH better half of seven years, Trey).
