Boxtops and Labels for Education
This is a Sons of Norway District 2 contest, Edmonds members. The lodge that gathers the most (per member) Boxtops and Labels for Education by May 17th, 2014 wins!
The district’s goal is to gather 5,000 Boxtops and Labels for Education by May 17th, 2014 - the bicentennial of the first Syttende Mai. It's also a contest to see which lodge can gather the most boxtops/labels for education PER MEMBER (the number being the number of members at the start of 2013, according to the district directory). So, if, for example, Leif Erickson (1,445 members at the start of 2013) gathers 1,000 members while Midnatsol (41 members) gathers 100, the latter lodge will finish considerably ahead of the former because it would mean Midnatsol had gathered 2.43 per member while the former would have gathered .69 per member. So, all lodges have an equal chance.
The lodges with the three highest boxtops/labels per member will receive their medals at the 2014 convention. Please bring the labels to the lodge each month and we will keep the District informed. The Project Framtid Coordinator for the District, David Champion, will keep us informed on our status in the contest.
Thanks, Jane Bueing - President, Edmonds Lodge 2-130

"Peggy Kennedy, Director of the Food Bank accepts a check from Bob Stevenson, Edmonds Lodge Sons of Norway President. Also pictured are (l-r) Glenn Werner, Harold Malnes and Al Vadset, who are all Sons of Norway members as well as food bank volunteers.
In the spirit of the season, Edmonds Lodge Sons of Norway donated the final installment of a $1,000 pledge to the Carol Rowe Memorial Food Bank in Edmonds.
In honor of the 100th anniversary of the Sons of Norway District 2, consisting of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska, many lodges from the region participated in “100” themed activities.
The Edmonds Lodge decided to contribute money in $100 increments to the food bank. The money was collected from members and guests at the Sons of Norway monthly meetings and during the Lodge sponsored Saturday Pancake Breakfasts throughout this past year.
The Edmonds Sons of Norway has been contributing to the food bank for over 10 years, but this is the first time they have given at this level thanks to the addition of a collection box at the Pancake Breakfasts and generous contributions from members."
