For Students

Being a student these days
is not easy. There's a lot of pressure to perform and succeed in everything you do.  Friends, parents, clubs, and sports can take up a lot of your time and energy. At school, one of the most important ways you communicate is through writing: in Social Studies, Science, and in English (Language Arts) class. If your writing shows poor punctuation, spelling, grammar, or organization, it reflects on you, and on your grade.

I remember struggling with Language Arts when I was a kid too. There were too many rules, and too many exceptions. It was just too confusing.
Thank goodness I had my mom! She was an English teacher. Unfortunately, not everyone can say that.

For Parents

With all the requirements and pressures from schools, organizations, and National
legislation, you can be sure that your child's writing abilities will be focused on more and more in the coming years.

Just like you, I have children of my own and at the end of the day, I'm tired! It's okay to ask for help, that's where teachers come in. I have a few extra hours a week, I'm very good at editing and proofreading, and between the two of us, we can help your child. Check here for service plans.

So I'm here to help. With a little help from your parents, you can email me your document and I can take a look at it, editing and proofreading along the way. I can't write it for you, or make changes that break into your own "author voice," but I can clean up some of the problems and make it the best it can be. The "compensation" that I get is two-fold. A little sense of helping kids who need my editing abilities, and a little bit of cash to help me finance my next hiking expedition. I love getting outside: I garden, walk, jog, play b-ball, camp, and now want to hike. I'm hiking on parts of the AT (Appalachian Trail) with my sons and it's a lot of fun! The flip side of having older boys is that I have more time to myself.

That is why I can edit for you. There are different ways to edit and proofread, some take longer than others, so make sure you talk over everything with your parents and are clear as to what you would like me to do.

Check out How it Works!

For Small Businesses

Running a business is no "small" task. With all of the responsibilitie
s and duties that you have, there is little time or energy to spend on such mundane, yet vitally important details. When you put forth a press release, upload a customer file to your server, or update your webpage FAQ sheet,  let me be part of your team to help your business communicate correctly to your customer base. There is nothing worse, or embarassing as having typos, grammar usage, or spelling mistakes in documents that your clientele use every day. As an access point to your company, customers can be turned away because of this lack of professionalism or just because the meaning of what you are trying to say is confusing to them. Either way, I can look over the documentation to ascertain if there are any errors in word usage, grammar, or meaning. Let's put some muscle power into your business!
Even if you edit and proofread your own text, it is very useful to have someone else look at it. Every day in the classroom I see how invaluable it is to peer edit papers of all types. My fellow English teachers do the same when it comes to professional documentation. We understand the inability of the individual mind to look past our own mental constructions. Applying this to our own paperwork, we have each other proofread important documents before we submit them.

Take a look at the Service Plan for more details.
