Team Talon Birding Group at the Edinburg Scenic Wetlands
Did you know that nearly one fifth of all Americans identify themselves as birdwatchers? That’s right, nearly 80,000,000 people in the United States claim they purposefully watch or listen to birds on a regular basis!
If you would like to get in on this activity, consider joining Team Talon! This birding club for 10-17 year-olds is your ticket to this popular pastime. Join the EWBC naturalist, Gabe De Jong, every second and fourth Thursday of the month for informative sessions focusing on bird identification technique, biology, and ecology. Every session we will put our learning to practice with guided bird walks on EWBC grounds. The Team Talon birding group is also a great opportunity to meet new friends and share experiences outdoors!
Regular bi-weekly sessions will be after school, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm starting Thursday, September 9th. Parents, this is a youth-only program, but every month (on a Saturday) there will also be one family outing where we will explore the many other parks and wildlife sanctuaries in the LRGV. The first of such outings will be to Estero Llano Grande State Park on Saturday, September 25th.
We encourage those interested to sign up for the first three
months at a reduced cost! For all six sessions EWBC members will pay $10.00 and
non-members $20.00, a reduction equal to one Team Talon meeting! Cost per
individual session is $4.00 for non-members and $2.00 per member. Registration is required 2 days prior to each session,
excluding those who’ve paid for the entire season. Binoculars and field guides are provided. Contact our center to register.
Join the EWBC Naturalist for our scheduled wildlife obersations. Each walk offers amazing sightings of animals that inhabit our gardens and wetlands!
No experience necessary. Field guides and binoculars are provided. All scheduled walks are FREE with paid admission.
