Pork Toast (Nom Pung Nar Moo)

  • 500 gm minced pork meat (lean)
  • ½ cup chopped Green Onion
  • 2½ cm ginger (peeled & crushed)
  • ½ tsp crushed garlic
  • 10 slices of "sandwich-loaf" bread
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp light soy sauce
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Oil thermometer.

  1. In a bowl mix the egg, pork, green onion, crushed ginger, crushed garlic, sugar, soy sauce and pepper until well mixed.
  2. Remove crusts from the bread if preferred.
  3. Spread an amount of the paste onto each bread slice. It's best to have it quite thin at the edges.
  4. Heat the oil to 180ºC (356F). Invert each slice of the coated bread into the oil and cook for 2 minutes. Turn the bread over and cook the base side for 1 minute
  5. Remove from the oil and allow to drain well. Continue to cook all the pieces until finished. Don't overload the cooking pan at any one time.
  6. The bread slices can now be served as one piece or cut into sections at your discretion. Serve with Sriracha sauce or any sauce you prefer.
