Beef Congee 牛肉粥

  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp cooking wine
  • 1 tsp cornstarch

  • 2tsp salt 
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/8 tsp pepper

  • 2 Tbsp shredded ginger 
  • 2 Tbsp (6 oz) shredded green onion.
  • 4 Tbsp coriander (cilantro)
  • 150 g (1/3 lb.) beef loin (tendons removed!)
  • 200 g (7 oz.) tomatoes or stir-fried green vegetable

  1. First cook congee: Bring 16 cups. water to a boil. Add 2cups. uncooked rice and bring to a boil. Remove from heat when cooked to your preference.
  2. Cut beef loin against the grain into thin slices. Add Marinade and marinate for 10 minutes.
  3. Bring cooked congee and Seasoning to a boil again. Add beef and stir to mix well. Cook until color changes (for about 30 seconds) and remove from heat.
  4. Sprinkle Garnishes over individual bowls of the congee and serve hot
  5. This recipe will make 8 modest bowls (probably 4 peoples preference), so tuck in.
