Anne Marie, single mother of two teenagers, achieved the GED while living in a shelter. She currently holds a full time job as a security guard and is completing her college education.
Esmeralda came to SSNDEC to learn her "ABCs" and after 3 months she departed, literate and able to read stories to her twin girls.
Dorothy, a middle aged Nigerian immigrant, moved through pre-GED to a GED diploma and is currently in her last year of nursing at the University of Rochester.
Maria, a native of Mexico, participated in the ESL program for one year and moved into GED preparation. While caring for her three young daughters, she achieved the NYS GED diploma.
