Brief History

In 2003 the School Sisters of  Notre Dame founded the SSND Educational Center, Inc. to help women reach the fullness of their potential and to break out of the cycle of poverty. 

Incorporated a 501(c)3 nonprofit in the State of New York the Center is tuition free and is listed as an Eligible Training Provider site with New York State Work Force. More than five hundred women have been served by the Center since it welcomed its first class of eighteen students.


In September 2009, the Center moved to its new site in St. Thomas Apostle Parish, Woodhaven, Queens, from St. Clement Convent in South Ozone Park.
