High School Equivalency Diploma Classes

Obtaining your High School Equivalency (HSE) Diploma opens up many more job opportunities for you. If you are looking for a job, you'll find that most employers seek applicants with a high school diploma or an HSE.  If you are already working, obtaining your HSE diploma can open up opportunities for promotion within your current job. Statistically, those with a high school diploma or an HSE earn twice as much as those without over the course of a lifetime. And for those who wish to climb further up the ladder of success, your HSE is the first step towards further education (college, technical schools, etc.)
In order to obtain your HSE you need to take the TASC test. (As of January 1, 2014, New York State replaced the GED test with the TASC - Test Assessing Secondary Completion.  TASC is the new high school equivalency diploma test.) But in order to prepare for this test, you will need help.

The School Sisters of Notre Dame Can Help You

The School Sisters of Notre Dame Educational Center (SSNDEC) in Woodhaven, Queens has been providing that help via High School Equivalency Diploma classes for the last 10 years. Over that span, over 700 women have benefited from classes at SSNDEC - either High School Equivalency or ESL.

SSNDEC provides a safe place where women enter into a community of support and encouragement and an environment conducive to the development of self sufficient individuals who improve their self esteem.

The SSNDEC High School Equivalency Diploma classes are available to women who:
  • are committed to working toward their high school equivalency diploma
  • are 19 years of age or older
  • can attend classes from 8:45-1:30 Monday through Friday
  • have sufficient reading and writing skills in English to work on the high school equivalency curriculum.
