Carousel Fundraiser 2015

On Friday, June 12th, the Forest Park Carousel generously opened their gates to the School Sisters of Notre Dame for a fundraiser. There was magic in the air as everyone rode this historic New York City Landmark with all proceeds going to SSNDEC. Here are some highlights of the evening!

Fun at the Carousel to Benefit the Sisters!

2015's Queen of the Mardi Gras Wanda Sample  of Avalon Risk Management enjoys a ride on the 100+ year old carousel in Forest Park.

It was a great opportunity to get together with good friends and celebrate another marvelous year at the center!

Kids of all ages have been enjoying the carousel for decades - and it was a great opportunity to introduce ourselves to new friends!

We were joined by Mr. Allan Smith, 2014's Woodhaven Man of the Year. Mr. Smith is a member of the Queens and Woodhaven Historical Societies and rode the Forest Park Carousel as a young boy.

The School Sisters of Woodhaven and the Forest Park Carousel have one great thing in common - they make everyone smile!

We were joined by Elizabeth Crowley of the New York City Council who came out to wish everyone well.

A face painter was on hand - and the kids and parents loved it!

Wow! Sister Cathy was impressed by the artwork on the kids' faces!

The weather was beautiful - a great night for friends to get together and celebrate the great work of the Sisters, the Teachers and the Students!

Is that not the perfect can of Coke for Sister Cathy?

We were joined by Lt. Loy Gordon of the FDNY, owner of historic Neir's Tavern in Woodhaven (the oldest bar in New York City) who made a generous donation to the Sisters.

The kids loved getting their faces painted and going on the carousel!

It was great to see so many parents and children enjoying themselves at our fundraiser.

In all, a wonderful time was had by all - we look forward to doing it again next year!
