A lot has been going on in the ECS student chapter Belgium in 2018!

On the 5th of October, the ECS student chapter Belgium presents four lectures on Li-ion battery technologies, followed by a discussion panel with experts in the fields of batteries, both from academia and industry. Don't miss out this opportunity!

On June 8th, the Agfa Healthcare and the Agfa Materials unit in Mortsel, welcomed the Belgian ECS student chapter. The visit was organised in cooperation with researcher Dirk Vandenbroucke. The visit started with a tour in the Healthcare demo room, where the state of the art medical imaging devices were presented along with a demo of the image processing software. The tour continued to the on-site PET film production plant and storage facility, where we got an in depth explanation on the PET film production process. After the tour a networking was organised, together with different researchers within AGFA. In the afternoon researchers gave lectures about their research topics: Technology and innovation approach in Healthcare/Imaging and Materials, X-ray monitoring systems and applications, Inkjet Ink Development, functional foils and Physical and chemical characterization techniques as a support for product development.

On the 28th of February, the Belgian ECS student chapter visited Prayon in Engis, one of the world leaders in phosphate production. Their business activities primarily focus around phosphates for the food industry, but they also recently started a pilot plant for the production of iron phosphate for LIB applications. The whole day was organised by David Eskenazi, R&D engineer. The visit started with a welcoming session by HR, followed by a presentation of the company. A lunch was provided by HR with the opportunity to talk to several researchers. In the afternoon, beLife, the plant for the production of cathode materials, was visited.
