3/23 - Research Paper

posted Mar 23, 2017, 10:53 AM by Mary Trexler   [ updated Mar 23, 2017, 11:05 AM ]

Parents,

The culminating writing project in fourth grade is a research paper on an event from history chosen by the students. This project will be worked on in class, but there will be days when students will need to finish work at home. We will spend approximately 45 minutes to an hour on this project each day. I try to help each student individually, but there will be days when I have not gotten to everyone, and they will need your help! I ask that you please work with your child at home to check their work each night.

One reason I ask you to look over your child's work is so you can see the progression of their writing ability. If you see something that your child is having difficulty with (maybe they struggle with choosing appropriate punctuation, capitalization, or writing in complete sentences) please work with them to fix the mistakes at home, and bring it to my attention so I can give them additional practice during the school day.

I have uploaded a copy of their research paper packet here and under "Important Documents." If your son or daughter loses their packet, you will need to print a new one. This packet will be checked daily, but also needs to be turned in with their final paper. Without the completed packet at the end, they will not receive credit for any brainstorming or drafts.

This project will be completed by April 11.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

3/22 - Third Quarter ends April 7

posted Mar 22, 2017, 6:22 AM by Mary Trexler

Parents,

The third quarter will end on April 7. Please check Power School to find any assignments, quizzes or tests your son or daughter needs to make up. There will be three more Boost sessions (March 23, 30 and April 6) to finish any and all work. Any work (including tests and quizzes) that is not made up by April 7, will go in the gradebook as a 0%.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.
