Welcome to the website for Justin Wiltshire's Economics 103 tutorial students. Please navigate using the links on the left. On this site you will regularly find my weekly lesson plans and most of the general information I wish to convey to you. This site should not be the only course website you visit this semester: your professor has posted all of your homework sets (and other pertinent information) at http://www.sfu.ca/~allen/103B.html

ALL CURRENT ECON 103 STUDENTS VISITING THIS SITE:
This old site gets a lot of traffic around exam time at SFU, so I'm glad you guys are finding it helpful. If any of you care to ever scan your more recent mid-terms and email them to me (jcwiltshire@ucdavis.edu), I will complete answer keys and post them. Future students will thank you for your efforts.
Good luck on your exams!

Spring 2013 Semester
Final Spring 2013 Update:
Hi everyone,
The grades are in, and your professor should be submitting them later today, which means they should be up on WebCT in a few days. Congratulations on finishing the course.
It's been my pleasure teaching you this semester. I hope you learned some things you'll find useful in life.
- Justin

April 5 Update:
The 2011 Final Exam is now available, as is its answer key. I am also posting my lesson plans for the next two weeks, in case we are unable to get to the last one.
Here is another old Final Exam and its answer key.
Funnily enough, after I've been pushing your practice with the tables, neither of these old exams uses them. You should still ensure you feel comfortable with them... but you should try to feel comfortable with all the material. Good luck.

I will email the TAs to ask for their office numbers and office hours. I will post their responses here. If I don't hear back from them, you must find them yourselves. Look on the bulletin board across from where the Econ main office used to be, or ask one of the departmental secretaries.

Take a look at this article for a nice example of two different types of preferences operating under similar constraints. Do you think both types of investors are maximizers?

Spring 2012 Semester
My tutorials averaged 55/90 (standard deviation 0f 10.3). I'm guessing the class average will be around 50 or 51. Have a good summer, everyone.

April 12 Update:
I have now posted the answer key to the Fall 2011 Final Exam. I should point out that the exam has a typo: the game theory question should tell you that, if Sally alone wears make-up, then only she and ROB date (NOT she and Mike). Let me know if you strongly disagree with any of my answers.

February 22 Update:
Two Corrections: I wasn't paying attention to the wording of question 48 from this week's homework. It explicitly says "each good experiences diminishing marginal products in its production." This means that the curved Production Possibility Curve I drew is in fact THE ONLY shape you could have drawn (those tutorials whom I told I would not penalize for having drawn a straight line should take note: I will penalize a straight line now that I see that the question explicitly does not allow for that). I also thought (again, from not thoroughly reading the question) that question 24 stated that the initial cost of the remaining cup of buttermilk was $0.50. In fact, it states that the inital cost of the entire pint was $0.50 (which means the sunk cost of the remaining cup was only $0.25). This does NOT change the answer to the question, but let it not be said that I don't acknowledge my mistakes.
